Fishing with my country bag, carry knife and a stag kephart custom

and I wanted to show you what I carry most times.

My country bag  that has a fishing kit inside, an ultra light
rod a reel and my carry knife.

This carry knife has been with me for awhile and now I am
currently carrying this with a single piece of leather and cord
lock.

I will post more about this in a different blog post as well as
give you more details and info on how you can use this set up.

This sheath set up will be offered on my website as well in the
future.

The kephart below is a custom order with a beautiful stag handle. Sheath has been hand stitched.

A set of custom kephart knives.

This week I am posting a set of beautiful kepharts knives.

These were made for a custom order and have beautiful
tiger maple handles.

Both sheaths were hand stitched and antiqued.

I am also working on trying to make more videos, some
will be how to videos as the one below, others will
be showing my work.

Currently I am searching around for a new
decent camera as well, something that is rugged and
I can take in outdoor weather without to many concerns
of dropping it or getting caught in pounding rain.

Thank you for everything,

Woods Runner Set..Custom bag..Kephart..hudson bay and game hunting knife

One of my Woods runner sets, customized.

This was done for a special custom order
3 knives, the bag and also included was
one of my custom ferro rods and coffin
fire steels.

Some additional information on this set.
The kephart is antiqued stag with a free hand
tooled belt sheath.  The blade being a cleaner
finish.

The Hudson bay camp knife is my H2 version
with aged dark black walnut, steel pins
over brass washers.

The last knife was a mid sized knife that could
be used for many woods, and hunting chores.
The blade being pattern and patina aged with
antiqued elk stag handle.  The sheath as
well as the others was hand stitched and also
has my free hand hand tooled line work.

The bag was entirely hand worked as well, all the
leather was hand stitched and oiled by hand several
times.  The bags button was made from antler.
If you look at the last picture you can see both
the hudson bay and the mid sized stag knife can
be carried on the bag, the sheaths can also be worn
on the belt if wanted.

You all have a great 4th of July

How the Selection of Handle material is done

A large percentage of my handle material is wood I cut into scales
myself.  A small percentage I do buy scales.
Below is a new section of tiger maple for me to work from.

Cutting my own scales does take more time and sometimes can be
difficult.  You never know what you will find when you open up
a piece of wood.

There is allot involved from cutting to flat sanding and fitting but
this also allows me to select each piece of handle material individually.
If the grain isn't what I'm happy with or if things aren't going good the
wood ends up in my scrap box as you can see below.

Scrap wood that just didn't make the grade or was
from a cut off..

The final results from each piece is very rewarding.  The grain each piece
of wood takes on is very unique and individual.  Below you can see one
of my kephart knives finished in tiger maple with a hand rubbed oil finish.

Old Favorite Tongs and a Kephart In action

Here is something I thought you would all enjoy seeing.

This is a set of Tongs I forged awhile back and remain one
of my favorite tools in the shop.  They are beat and have seen
better days but are still holding up and do the job I need them to
do.

Also The picture below was taken by Reuben Bolieu:   His Kephart knife  in action
making a fuzz stick or some call a feather stick / fire stick.  Whatever you want
to call it, Great Job.
