Scandi Kephart Knives

Posted below is a recent set of custom ordered
kephart knives.

Both have scandi grinds with tiger maple handles.

Pattern and patina aged blades.

The hand stitched sheaths are dangler set ups both for the
right and left hand.

The latest Youtube post, a portion of this was used for my Channel Trailer.

Deep Belly Spear Point More Pictures and Tooled leather work

Posted below are a some additional pictures of the
Deep belly Spear point recently sold from
my available  knives gallery 1

If you jumping here from an Internet search here is a
a little info on the knife.  This piece was forged from
1095 high carbon steel.  The pattern aged blade was
about 4.25 with a tiger maple handle.   The spine
has been beefed up at 3/16" thick and also was hand
(jimped) file worked.   If you click the above link and
scroll down to letter G you will see more info until a
new knife is posted in its place.  The sheath was
antiqued and hand stitched.

I also have a new page up an running on the website.  I posted the link below
the photo.

This page will be for any available leather work I have done.  Keep checking

Personal Carry Neck knife and completed custom.

Here is a neck knife I have been carrying for awhile now. 
So I have claimed it.  This is the knife I used in one
of my YouTube videos.  This is a handy sized knife for
all sorts of uses.  I have used it for everything from
cutting leather to tomato vines in the garden.  You can
see the blade has developed a nice patina and at 2 inches
in length would work well for trout as well.

The handle is tiger maple at about 3 1/8" long and I tight
stitched some deer skin rawhide on the forward haft.

The neck sheath has some of my free hand tooling on
the face of it,  Trees and mountain scene.

Also from the last post on the blog I showed you a custom knife
that I was working on without the sheath pictures.   Here is
the completed neck sheath posted below.

Hunting and trail knife from past work

This is a custom knife from my past work photos.

A nice style for many uses, hunting and trail use,
also nice for food or freshwater fish.

Blade was about 4 1/2" long if I remember right with a light
pattern aged blade.  The spine was file worked.

The handle is tiger maple with steel pins.   Sheath was hand stitched.

You can see by the pic as well,  this is one of the few photos without
my Indian head penny

How the Selection of Handle material is done

A large percentage of my handle material is wood I cut into scales
myself.  A small percentage I do buy scales. 
Below is a new section of tiger maple for me to work from.

Cutting my own scales does take more time and sometimes can be
difficult.  You never know what you will find when you open up
a piece of wood.

There is allot involved from cutting to flat sanding and fitting but
this also allows me to select each piece of handle material individually. 
If the grain isn't what I'm happy with or if things aren't going good the
wood ends up in my scrap box as you can see below.

Scrap wood that just didn't make the grade or was
from a cut off..

The final results from each piece is very rewarding.  The grain each piece
of wood takes on is very unique and individual.  Below you can see one
of my kephart knives finished in tiger maple with a hand rubbed oil finish.
